Overview
Join our dedicated team as an Adult Family Home DSP (Direct Support Professional) for 2nd shift between 4p-11p and weekend shifts between 8a-8p and 8p-8a and a rotating schedule! In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to individuals with developmental disabilities, supporting their daily needs and promoting independence within a nurturing home environment. Your energetic and proactive approach will help create a positive, safe, and engaging atmosphere where residents feel valued and empowered. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and health status regularly to ensure well-being and identify any concerns early
- Provide care for residents with a range of disabilities.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen area
- Support residents with community outings or transportation needs, including driving when qualified and authorized
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and resident rooms
- Document care activities thoroughly, communicate effectively with team members, and collaborate with social workers or healthcare professionals as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is essential
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate attitude toward residents’ individual needs
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties; clean driving record preferred
