Job Description Summary:
Provide quality instruction for public speaking courses. Each course consists of 3 lecture hours per week. Course time: 2:20 PM - 3:50 PM In person on the Dowagiac Campus Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Communications or English, or Master's Degree with 18 credit hours of coursework in the content area.
Excellent organization and communication skills
Demonstrated use of instructional technology
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience
Other Information:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students.
Preparing and delivering lessons using a master syllabus and standardized curriculum.
Working comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students.
Grading assignments and providing feedback to students in a timely manner.
Utilizing a variety of student engagement strategies in the classroom to ensure active student participation.
Using Moodle regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades.
Being proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email.
Bringing a positive, energetic, and professional attitude into the classroom.
Being accessible to students and responding to all in-person and electronic student inquiries.
Provide the department with student performance data that is required for regular outcomes assessment.
Becoming familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines, and policies of the College.
