Position Summary
The Environmental Health, & Plant Safety Manager will plan, direct, and implement programs that ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment for our two plant operation. This position is responsible for the compliance of relevant parties with all environmental and safety regulatory agencies. Areas of specialty for this position focus on compliance monitoring and reporting in all areas of the company. Foster a culture of pro-activity, accountability, engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of reducing loss and liability throughout the Company. This is a highly hands on-role. The successful candiate will be involved in the day-to day work taking ownership from planning to execution. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast pace and hands-on environment.
Daily Responsibilities
· Develops, evaluates and maintains effective health/safety policy and procedures to comply with corporate and regulatory requirements, these activities include but are not limited to Safe Operating Procedures, Lockout/Tag-out, Hearing Conservation and Fall Prevention/Protection
· Administers environmental compliance activities including but not limited to: tracking, reporting, scheduling, and sampling as necessary.
· Maintains effective relationships with external parties such as: regulatory agencies/governmental agencies, vendors, suppliers, customers, and local occupational health clinics.
· Conducts routine audits and inspections of our environmental procedures and controls.
· Recommends and facilitates corrective actions to maintain the effectiveness of the procedures and controls.
· Files regulatory reports in compliance with the local, state, and federal agencies
· Plans, implements, and oversees the company safety program; coordinates and leads safety committees.
· Administer new employee safety orientation program and employee safety training.
· Inspects organization facilities (safety audits) to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
· Participates in goal setting and budget process, in areas of safety and compliance.
· Assists with the record keeping, and manuals for OSHA, DOT, DNR, and various other governmental agencies.
· Assist with the investigation of all incidents and injuries and documentation. Handles the reporting all Workers-Comp matters from initial to closure.
· Plan emergency response initiatives; respond to emergency situations as they arise.
· Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· BS degree, preferably in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline.
· 3- 5 years’ environmental, safety or health experience preferred.
· Strong record showing demonstrated success in partnering with key business leaders in managing and improving overall safety and environmental performance.
· EPA and OSHA regulation experience preferred
· Must have exceptional skills in building interpersonal relationships, including a high degree of judgment, diplomacy and ability to influence others.
· Strong knowledge of current safety and loss control practices is essential.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
