Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented (potentially cross-trained) Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Open Dental.
- Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, assisting chairside
- Collect payments, process insurance claims, verify coverage, and perform billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks or EMR platforms in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review documentation for accuracy, update care plans, and ensure proper coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards for billing purposes.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to handle appointment scheduling, patient inquiries, and follow-up calls efficiently.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, managing electronic health records (EHR), and performing data entry with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while providing excellent patient service at the front desk and during intake procedures.
- Assist with insurance verification processes and ensure accurate documentation review for billing accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and clinical procedures is essential.
- Prior experience assisting chairside as a DA is highly preferred; assisting with implant surgery is a plus.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Open Dental; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification, and health information management practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient service and maintain professional phone etiquette.
- Demonstrated clerical skills including filing, data entry (10-key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Office management experience combined with strong organizational skills to handle administrative duties seamlessly in a fast-paced environment.
