Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Forklift/ Pallet Jack Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, including forklifts, construction machinery, and industrial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operational excellence. Duties
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on forklifts, construction machinery, and industrial equipment using hand tools and power tools.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, air brakes, suspension, and HVAC components.
- Conduct detailed diagnostics utilizing schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals to identify faults accurately.
- Repair or replace components such as brakes, transmissions, tires, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding and fabrication techniques to enhance equipment functionality.
- Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation before returning it to service; perform heavy lifting as required during repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and diagnostic reports to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or forklift technician with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance, automotive diagnostics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using schematics, diagnostic tools, welding equipment, and hand tools for repairs.
- Familiarity with diesel engine diagnostics, powertrains, air brake systems, alignment procedures, suspension systems, and hydraulics.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues involving excavators, cranes, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, and other industrial equipment.
- Certification or training in heavy equipment operation is advantageous; relevant certifications include forklift certification and diesel mechanics credentials.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions safely.
- Experience working with Raymond, Crown machines.
