SurgiPet is a privately owned and operated surgery center for pets. As an instrument assistant you would perform various tasks related to the movement of surgical supplies and equipment, equipment cleaning, stocking the OR and Sterile Prep areas, and other related duties, to ensure that the OR and Surgery Team have supplies necessary for patient care.
Job Duties
- Assist in obtaining needed supplies and/or instruments (i.e. take items to the OR)
- Ensure soiled surgical equipment is retrieved from the surgery suite in a timely manner
- Display dexterity in the handling of all instrumentation
- Assist with post-procedure cleaning of the surgery suite and preparation of room for subsequent patients
- Thoroughly clean and sterilize surgical instruments, packs, drapes and equipment
- Are able to distinguish between different disinfectants and detergents and know how to use them
- Have the ability to assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilization
- Maintain cleanliness of all operating rooms, flipping and cleaning between surgeries
- Inventory Sterile Processing specific supplies at regular intervals
- Maintain a clean environment and workspace
