Bay Surgical Specialists is a growing vascular surgery practice with an accredited Office-Based Lab (OBL) dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a safe, patient-centered environment. Our team performs a variety of minimally invasive vascular procedures while delivering outstanding care before, during, and after each procedure.
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a procedural environment and is comfortable caring for patients throughout the entire procedural experience.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of vascular procedures performed in our Office-Based Lab (OBL).
This position functions as a Pre/Post Procedure RN, providing patient assessments, education, sedation monitoring, recovery care, and discharge planning. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and committed to providing exceptional patient care in a collaborative, fast-paced outpatient setting. Assignments are based on the daily procedural schedule and operational needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Pre-Procedure Care
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including medical history, medication reconciliation, allergies, and vital signs.
- Review required labs, imaging, and medical clearances prior to procedures.
- Establish IV access and prepare patients for procedures.
- Verify informed consent and ensure procedural readiness.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, expectations, and recovery.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Post-Procedure Recovery
- Monitor patients during recovery following vascular procedures and sedation.
- Assess and document recovery status, pain level, vital signs, and neurological status.
- Administer medications as ordered, including pain management and reversal agents when appropriate.
- Identify and respond to post-procedural complications.
- Provide discharge instructions and patient education.
- Coordinate safe discharge with family and caregivers.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient procedural environment.
- Maintain competency in ACLS, moderate sedation, and emergency response.
- Cross-train and assist with other clinical duties as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork in a growing vascular practice.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, ICU, Emergency Department, PACU, surgical recovery, or other procedural setting.
- Experience with IV placement.
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with physicians and staff.
Preferred
- Previous Cath Lab, Vascular Lab, Interventional Radiology, or Office-Based Lab (OBL) experience.
- Experience administering and monitoring moderate sedation.
- Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring.
- Knowledge of vascular procedures and emergency response protocols.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and assist patients safely.
- Manual dexterity to operate clinical equipment.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
