Established in 1994, St Nicks Alliance’s Youth and Education serves more than 6,000 North Brooklyn youth each year. About the Opportunity
In this dynamic role, the After School Program Coordinator will support the Campus Wide Director in hiring and training after school group leaders, ensuring they are well-prepared and effective in their roles. The Coordinator will conduct ongoing observations, provide coaching, and deliver feedback to part-time group leaders. Daily responsibilities include supervising and supporting staff during program hours, assisting with lesson planning and implementation of core program components, and directly coaching staff . The role also involvessupervising interns and attending monthly literacy training to ensure group leaders and Literacy Leaders are fully engaged and up-to-date with the latest educational practices. This position offers an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on the development and success of both the staff and the students in the afterschool program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- With Director’s support develop strong relationships with parents, school leadership and key stakeholders
- Assist Director with planning, organizing and facilitating parent orientation sessions in the fall and summer
- Attend CBO-School partnership meetings
- Greet students and families at program arrival and dismissal
- Communicate student progress with parent as needed during program dismissal
- Collaborate with Elementary and Middle School Sites on Division wide initiatives
Program Development
- Recruit participants and build strong, collaborative relationships with program parents, school personnel, and key stakeholders
- Provide daily, direct supervision of middle school age after school program, ensuring all safety procedures, daily schedules, Literacy Immersion curriculum implementation, and group management protocols are followed
- Oversee the implementation of the division wide thematic Literacy curricula for Literacy, STEM, and SEL.
- Identify and organize resources for group leaders in Literacy, STEM, SEL, physical fitness and arts education.
- Directly support staff by reviewing lesson plan and and curriculum implementation
- Plan and Coordinate Holiday Camp registration, schedule, and activities including meal requests and trips
Administrative
- Meet all enrollment goals established by DYCD
- Monitor program spending and participating in budget review meetings
- Plan and coordinate afterschool registration process
- Maintain participant files ensuring that applications meet contractual requirements
- Complete at least 15 hours of training annually
- Maintain yearly binders and DYCD/DOH Binders
- Adhere to internal division deadlines
- Support division led professional development efforts for front line staff
- Any other tasks as identified by your Supervisor as they relate to your responsibilities
