Job Summary
We are seeking to partner with a passionate and energetic Early Childhood Reading Specialist-Tutor to inspire young learners and foster a love for literacy from an early age. In this role, you will design engaging lesson plans, utilize innovative learning technology, and implement effective teaching strategies tailored to preschool and early elementary students. Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum focused on literacy education and early childhood development.
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to improve reading, writing, and language skills in children.
- Incorporate learning technology tools to create interactive and engaging lessons that motivate young learners.
- Plan and execute classroom activities that promote phonemic awareness, vocabulary building, and comprehension skills.
- Manage classroom environments effectively to ensure a safe, nurturing space conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to track progress, provide feedback, and suggest strategies for continued development at home.
- Adapt teaching methods for children with special education needs or additional learning challenges.
Skills
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching young children in literacy or language acquisition.
- Excellent classroom management skills to create an engaging and disciplined learning environment.
- Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds and needs, including preschool experience and childcare settings.
- Familiarity with lesson planning for early childhood education and literacy-focused activities.
- Knowledge of special education strategies to support children with additional learning needs.
- Exceptional writing skills for creating clear lesson materials and progress reports.
Preferred Education and Training
- Master’s degree in Reading, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), or a related field.
- Specialized coursework or training in early literacy, phonological awareness, phonics, and reading instruction.
- Training in the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices preferred.
- Certification or professional development in structured literacy or dyslexia intervention is a plus (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, IMSE, or similar).
- Experience administering and interpreting early literacy assessments to guide instruction.
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and small-group intervention strategies.
