Our client, a growing and dynamic organization in the Gallatin area, is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager / Payroll Supervisor to oversee payroll operations and lead a small payroll team. This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to join a well-established company experiencing continued growth while contributing to process improvements and payroll best practices.
This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing, supervising payroll staff, and supporting payroll activities across multiple locations. The position is contract-to-hire with long-term potential for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state employee population.
Lead, mentor, and support payroll team members to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
Review payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings for accuracy.
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, system issues, and employee payroll inquiries.
Partner with HR, Accounting, and Operations teams to support payroll-related initiatives.
Assist with payroll audits, tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end activities.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance payroll controls and efficiencies.
Support payroll system maintenance, upgrades, and process improvements.
Travel occasionally to company locations throughout the region as needed.
5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, tax reporting, and compliance requirements.
Experience managing full-cycle payroll for a mid-sized or large employee population.
Proficiency with payroll systems and related HRIS platforms; experience with Viewpoint, QuickBooks, or similar systems is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Willingness to travel periodically, including occasional overnight travel.
