American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit night shift position requiring at least three years of relevant nursing experience and an active Illinois RN license.

Work in the Surgical unit of a hospital setting
-
13-week contract assignment
-
Night shift schedule, 7:30pm-7:00am
-
36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
-
Rotating weekend and holiday shifts required
-
May float to other Carle Health facilities including Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Pekin Hospital, and Proctor Hospital
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Performs bedside lab testing and specimen collection as part of patient care
-
Active Illinois RN license in good standing
-
BLS certification (American Heart Association)
-
Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience
-
ASN required, BSN preferred
-
Level 1 Trauma experience required
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Fluent in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English
-
Basic computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser applications
-
Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills
-
Multicultural sensitivity required

Provide direct patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
-
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care from admission to discharge
-
Document patient progress and maintain accurate patient charts and event reports
-
Utilize technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise
-
Advocate for patients and communicate effectively with physicians and care team members
-
Adapt patient and family education strategies based on individual learning needs
-
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
-
RTO limited to no more than 7 total days per 13-week contract
-
Workers may not remain on continuous assignment at this health system for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service
