Position Summary
The Operations Manager owns the operational day-to-day of the business and partners closely with the sales team to fuel growth. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for running a smooth, efficient operation — warehouse, shipping, receiving, and delivery — so that orders go out accurately and on time, every day. By keeping operations reliable and scalable, the Operations Manager frees the sales team to focus on winning and retaining customers and directly supports the company's growth goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee daily warehouse, shipping, receiving, and delivery operations.
- Develop operational processes that improve efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Partner with the sales team to support business growth, ensuring operations can scale to meet demand and deliver on customer commitments.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure customer orders are processed, fulfilled, and shipped according to schedule.
- Coordinate workflow between sales, purchasing, inventory, and logistics.
- Set and manage a daily shipping schedule to ensure consistent, on-time fulfillment.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- 5–8 years of progressive operations experience in distribution, warehousing, or supply chain, including direct supervisory responsibility.
- Proven ability to lead and develop hourly and salaried teams across multiple functions.
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping/receiving, and scheduling.
- Track record of partnering with sales or commercial teams to support business growth.
- Experience using KPIs and data to drive measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a hands-on, floor-present management style.
- Proficiency with business/ERP software and standard office applications.
Preferred
- Working knowledge of Sage ERP (or a comparable ERP system) for order processing, inventory, and reporting.
- Experience in filtration, HVAC, industrial products, or a related distribution industry.
- Bachelor's degree in business, operations, supply chain, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
Reporting and Supervision
The Operations Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and oversees a team of four direct reports across warehouse, shipping, receiving, and delivery operations. The role works hand-in-hand with the sales team and coordinates closely with purchasing, inventory, and logistics to ensure workflow moves smoothly from order to delivery.
