Qualifications:

Preferred 2 years technical or trade school with an emphasis on tool making or equivalent experience.

2+ years of experience in CNC programming

Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.

Skills: Technical mathematical skills; the ability to multitask; work on several projects at the same time without losing the ability to complete them on time and within customer specifications; communicate with other departments and customers in a professional and respectful manner; basic computer skills.

Knowledge: Proficient knowledge of all processes within the shop; understanding of blueprint reading; an understanding of component and/or mold manufacturing and ability to make decisions on in process tolerancing. Extensive knowledge of Mastercam and Cam Tool.

Abilities: To be able to perform daily tasks safely; To work independently with limited supervision; To be able to solve practical problems and work effectively with customers, suppliers, and other departments.
Essential Duties:
-
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software based on engineering blueprints, CAD models, and specifications.

Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents to understand component dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and machining requirements.

Choose appropriate cutting tools, materials, and machining techniques based on project requirements, material properties, and machine capabilities.

Analyze machining processes to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, cycle time, tool life, and surface finish while maintaining quality standards.

Integrating automation techniques using the latest equipment & technology

Utilize CAM software to simulate toolpaths, verify program accuracy, detect potential collisions, and optimize machining sequences.
-
Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and machinists to ensure CNC programs meet technical requirements, production schedules, and quality standards.

Perform design calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications.
-
Evaluates systems based on quantitative results and makes suggestions for the improvement of these systems.

Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.

Model / extract electrodes from existing 3D mold-design.

Generate toolpath programs for electrode cutting 3-Axis and 5-Axis.

Generate toolpath programs for mold components 3-Axis and 5-Axis.
-
Verify programs before being sent to the shop floor.

Work closely with toolmakers and suggest appropriate machining processes, follow up with machinists to verify how programs run, Team collaboration for problem solving and new innovations.

Stay updated on advancements in CNC technology, machining techniques, and software tools to implement continuous improvements and enhance productivity.

Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to CNC programmers, machinists, and operators to develop their skills and knowledge in CNC programming and machining.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and industry specifications throughout the CNC programming and machining processes.

Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment:
This is a non-smoking, professional tool shop with normal lighting, and climate control. This position requires the employee to work on a manufacturing floor where they may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors.

Protective Clothing Required:
When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed shoes are also required in certain locations.
