Controller - Madsen Roofing - Lacey Washington

We are currently looking for a detail-oriented powerhouse of a financial controller to join our team. This person would play a vital role in the health of our business and would have influence over the financial processes within the company. Extreme ownership of this role is required, and along with that responsibility comes agency. If you have ideas on how to improve our systems/processes, we want to hear them. We want a team member who can come in and own this role. The oversight of our financial operations, accounting functions, compliance requirements, and reporting will all rest on your shoulders. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of financial reporting, optimize cash management, and strengthen our overall financial health.

Duties
- Manage and oversee all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
- Have familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), filing taxes with the Washington State Department of Revenue and other regulatory requirements relevant to the roofing/construction industry.
- Prepare and review financial reports, Washington State payroll reporting, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, tax documents, and regulatory filings with accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct detailed account analysis and account reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records across multiple software platforms such as Sage, and other financial management tools.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to our policies.
- Process vendor and subcontractor invoices accurately and timely.
- Verify proper job cost coding and approvals for all invoices.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation related to governmental standards when applicable.
- Support audits and provide documentation as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes by leveraging technical accounting expertise and advanced financial software solutions.
Qualifications
- Having Sage Construction software experience is highly recommended, and is a sought after skill for this role, but is not required. We believe the right person can be trained in short order.
- Minimum (5) years experience in accounting/bookkeeping.
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting within the roofing or construction industry is highly desirable.
- Proven ability in financial report writing, financial analysis, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Expertise in account reconciliation techniques including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
- Solid understanding of technical accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, regulatory reporting requirements, and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating with management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required.

Pay: $82,321.20 - $98,785.44 per year
