Job Overview
- Role: Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Location: Fairfax, VA
- Core Mission: Perform complex laboratory testing on patient specimens to deliver accurate, timely results that support diagnosis and patient care, while strictly adhering to safety and quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct routine and specialized tests across major laboratory areas (Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Coagulation, etc.).
- Equipment Management: Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and information systems (LIS).
- Quality & Compliance: Perform quality control (QC/QA) procedures and ensure strict compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and state regulations.
- Problem Solving & Collaboration: Resolve testing errors or specimen issues, document all findings, and assist healthcare providers with lab data.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field (must have completed an accredited program).
- Certification/Licensure: ASCP MLS certification (or equivalent) is preferred, along with eligibility for Virginia practice credentials.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience (Preferred): Prior experience in a hospital or clinical setting handling automated analyzers.
