Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, bathing, dressing, and mobility support.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes to healthcare teams.
- Support residents with medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety.
- Facilitate engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive development, and emotional well-being.
- Operate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning common areas and resident rooms.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, and caring for individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and assist with medication administration accurately.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper manual handling techniques; experience with patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Experience supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or intellectual disabilities supports success in this role.
