We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Harvest Intern to join ASF’s winery team for the upcoming harvest season. This hands-on, seasonal position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in all aspects of grape processing and wine production while working alongside an experienced winemaking team.
The Harvest Intern will assist with fruit intake, crushing, pressing, fermentation management, sanitation, barrel work, and other cellar operations as needed. Harvest is a fast-paced and physically demanding time of year, requiring flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as production demands require.
This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in enology, viticulture, or the wine industry, or for those seeking valuable harvest experience in a collaborative and quality-focused winery environment. This is a full time position with high potential for overtime and weekend work during our busy season, which is August-September.
Responsibilities
- Barrel prep, sanitation, filling, and/or emptying
- Collect wine samples for laboratory analysis.
- Cleaning and sanitizing crush equipment
- Cleaning and sanitizing tanks and bins
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment
- Operating pumps in order to transfer wine
- Assisting in dumping grapes
- Assisting in weighing grapes
- Monitoring brix and temperature of fermenting grapes
- Performing punchdowns and pumpovers
- Digging out tanks
- Topping wine barrels
Qualifications
- Clear commitment to high quality and attention to detail
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Fluency in English
- Forklift certification and experience (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Works outdoors/indoors
- Works in warm/cold climates
- Works in high places
- Works in wet environments
- Comfortable while exposed to loud noises
- Works near moving, mechanical parts and forklift traffic
- Must be able to lift move up to 55 lbs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
