Northwest Christian Childcare is looking for a qualified Kitchen Manager. The Kitchen Manager plans and prepares balanced meals and snacks while ensuring that any dietary restrictions for individual children are met. He or she ensures that all health and safety standards are met and manages the kitchen, cooking, cleaning, and ordering food supplies. Must be adaptable to menu changes and be able to meet meal and snack schedules. Ensures safe food preparations and proper sanitation methods are used and maintains a safe kitchen/pantry area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Creates nutritional meal plans in the boundaries of their school's menu and budget, as well as state and federal requirements
- Follows the daily menu prepared, including portion control standards for meal and snack preparation. Follows all guidelines for the Child & Adult Care Food Program
- Implements changes in the menu, if needed and makes families aware of menu changes
- Orders food and calculates the amount of food needed daily
- Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe kitchen area always, including the proper maintenance of equipment and cleaning of all equipment
- Is professional in appearance, attitude, and behavior
- Observes all rules and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and care of the children
- Prepare meals/snacks for children and staff. Distributes food to the classrooms following appropriate health and safety guidelines.
- Maintains inventory of food and supplies
- Ability to make store runs if needed
- Plans and prepares Thanksgiving and other specials meals throughout the year
- Leads a weekly cooking class to our Pre-K children
- Provides lunch to our staff on Fridays
- Attends all required staff meetings, workshops, and events as determined by the Director
Job Requirements:
· Past food service management experience in an institutional, or childcare setting is preferred
· Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals, preferably in a childcare facility
· An understanding of all current state and local regulations
· Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work
· A High School diploma or equivalent
· Save Serv certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification
