We are looking for a reliable Undercoating Technician to join our team on an as-needed basis. This position is ideal for someone with automotive, detailing, mechanical, or hands-on experience who is comfortable working underneath vehicles and using basic power tools.
The job involves preparing vehicle undercarriages, removing loose rust and corrosion, and applying professional rust-protection coatings.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicle undercarriages before beginning work
- Remove loose rust, scale, dirt, and corrosion
- Use air tools, grinders, scrapers, and other hand/power tools
- Prepare surfaces for undercoating
- Apply lanolin-based rust protection using spray equipment
- Protect areas that should not be coated
- Perform thorough and clean work underneath vehicles
- Follow proper safety procedures when working around and underneath vehicles
- Clean up tools and the work area after each job
- Communicate with the owner/lead technician regarding vehicle condition and any issues found
What the Work Is Actually Like
This is a hands-on automotive position. You will spend a large portion of the job underneath vehicles removing rust and preparing the undercarriage before spraying the coating.
A typical vehicle takes approximately 4–7 hours, depending on the size and condition of the vehicle.
The work can be dirty and physically demanding. You should be comfortable with:
- Working underneath vehicles for extended periods
- Kneeling, bending, reaching, and working in tight areas
- Handling rust, dirt, dust, and undercarriage debris
- Using power tools
- Working outdoors when necessary
Pay
Paid per completed vehicle.
Pay will vary depending on the vehicle and scope of work. Experienced technicians who can work efficiently and produce quality results will have the opportunity to take on more vehicles as customer demand increases.

Experience with undercoating or rust removal is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
This is an as-needed position, so the amount of work will vary based on customer bookings. We are looking for someone dependable who can take on jobs when work is available.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
