Summary
Client Drivers are responsible for safely transporting EA/REACH clients on an agency owned vehicle to and from our sites located throughout the Akron area. This position is a part-time hourly position, Monday through Friday. Specialized training will be provided by Education Alternatives and Ohio Department of Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Safely transport clients to/from their residence to/from their designated drop off point, in a timely manner.
· Monitor clients during transit for the purpose of maintaining order and ensuring the safety of passengers.
· Advise clients of appropriate transportation behavior.
· Prepare documentation (e.g. daily log, incident reports, behavior rating, mileage) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information
· Assist clients (e.g. seating, special equipment, etc.) for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from vehicles including both emergency situations and normal transport.t
· Assess incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations for the purpose of providing safety.
· Maintain ongoing communication with staff including: Area Coordinators, Building Directors, CCCs and Teachers for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information.
· Maintain assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior (e.g. cleaning floors/windows/seats, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.
· Conduct safety checks on van before each departure and submit a daily pre-trip inspection form for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and meeting state requirements.
· Fuel assigned vehicle for the purpose of maintaining vehicle and keeping it in safe operating condition.
· Attend all agency trainings, including quarterly in-service trainings, for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting agency requirements.
· Perform first aid as necessary for the purpose of meeting the immediate health care needs of passengers

Required testing, certificates and licenses, and clearances
· Applicants must be at least 21 years old
· Must hold a valid Ohio driver’s license
· Must have a good driving record, as determined by the Ohio Department of Education
· Must be able to pass a pre-service physical and drug test
· Must not have a criminal background that would disqualify applicant from working with children

SKILLS- Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

· applying pertinent policies, regulations and/or laws; operating agency vehicles, fire extinguisher, cell phone, and standard office equipment;
· and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE- Read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include basic vehicle maintenance; first aid; health standards and hazards; cell phone communication; and utilizing wheelchairs, tie downs, child safety seats, lifts etc. (by assignment).

Working Conditions
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking and 10% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
