Position Overview
Nova Classical STEM Academy seeks an energetic, student-centered Middle School Math Teacher who is passionate about mathematical reasoning and committed to high academic standards. The ideal candidate fosters problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and mathematical fluency while building strong relationships with students and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver rigorous instruction aligned to Florida B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lessons that promote conceptual understanding and procedural fluency
- Integrate STEM applications and real-world problem-solving strategies
- Use data-driven instruction to monitor student growth and adjust teaching practices
- Prepare students for state mathematics assessments and advanced coursework (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I readiness)
- Incorporate technology and digital tools to enhance mathematical understanding
- Maintain a structured, positive classroom culture rooted in high expectations
- Communicate regularly with families regarding academic progress
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field
- Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (Grades 5–9 or 6–12 Mathematics) or eligibility to obtain certification
- ESOL Endorsement (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe)
Preferred:
- Experience teaching middle school mathematics
- Experience preparing students for Algebra I acceleration
- STEM integration experience
- Gifted endorsement or experience differentiating instruction
- Strong classroom management skills
