Wellrock Pharmacy is an independently owned community pharmacy located next to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland. We work closely with local providers, hospital care teams, and patients to make the prescription process easier and more personal.
Our services include prescription delivery, medication synchronization, immunizations, affordability support, prior authorization assistance, and coordination of discharge medications. We combine the service of an independent pharmacy with the technology and provider relationships of a modern healthcare organization.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, patient-focused Staff Pharmacist to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys building relationships with patients and providers, solving medication-access challenges, and helping an independent pharmacy grow.
The Staff Pharmacist will oversee safe and accurate dispensing, counsel patients, support daily pharmacy operations, and collaborate with nearby medical practices and hospital care teams. For the right candidate, this position offers meaningful opportunities for advancement, including a potential path to Pharmacist-in-Charge and participation in the pharmacy’s long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Review and dispense prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Verify prescription appropriateness, dosing, interactions, allergies, and potential contraindications
- Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, adherence, and proper storage
- Communicate with prescribers and care teams to resolve prescription and medication-access issues
- Assist patients with insurance rejections, prior authorizations, manufacturer savings programs, and lower-cost alternatives
- Support hospital discharge prescriptions and help ensure timely transitions of care
- Administer immunizations and other pharmacist-provided clinical services
- Provide oversight and guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all federal and Maryland pharmacy regulations
- Help improve workflow, patient service, adherence, and operational performance
- Build strong relationships with patients, physician offices, and local healthcare organizations
- Contribute ideas that support the pharmacy’s continued growth and expansion
