Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support a dedicated cardiovascular operating room in Cooperstown, NY. This role requires a highly skilled tech with strong cardiac experience who can function independently in open-heart procedures and contribute to a collaborative surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures, including open-heart cases
- Maintain sterile field and ensure proper instrumentation and supplies are available
- Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
- Assist with vein harvesting (open or endoscopic techniques)
- Prepare operating room and surgical equipment before procedures
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, perfusionists, and OR staff
Required Experience
- Recent CVOR experience required
- Strong experience scrubbing open-heart cases independently
- Experience assisting with vein harvesting
- Endoscopic vein harvesting experience preferred, but open technique required
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Required (NBSTSA or NCCT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiovascular surgical specialty experience
- Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
