We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care by supporting physicians and advanced practice providers with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys building positive relationships with patients while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medications, and allergies.
- Assist physicians and providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Administer allergy injections and other medications as directed by providers and within scope of practice.
- Monitor patients following allergy injections and recognize and respond appropriately to adverse reactions.
- Perform allergy skin testing, spirometry, FeNO testing, and other diagnostic procedures as directed.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring appropriate supplies and equipment are stocked and sanitized.
- Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens when applicable.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, allergy avoidance strategies, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Document clinical information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Coordinate prescription refills, prior authorizations, and specialty pharmacy communications.
- Assist with patient scheduling, referrals, and follow-up appointments as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Communicate professionally with patients, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare providers.
- Support inventory management by monitoring medical supplies and notifying leadership when reordering is needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience.
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Previous experience in Allergy & Immunology, Pulmonology, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
- Experience administering injections and performing allergy testing.
- Knowledge of biologic medications, prior authorizations, and specialty pharmacy workflows.
- Experience with pulmonary function testing (spirometry) and related diagnostic procedures.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
