Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Collector Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Perform specimen collection procedures including venipuncture, spinal taps, and other specialized techniques in accordance with CLIA regulations and hospital protocols
- Manage biological samples through proper labeling, storage, transportation, and documentation within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Follow aseptic techniques and maintain sterile environments during sample processing to prevent contamination
- Conduct laboratory tests utilizing appropriate physiology knowledge and adhere to clinical laboratory procedures
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications and hospital safety policies
- Communicate effectively with patients, clients, and healthcare providers to explain procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality
- Enter data accurately into laboratory information systems and maintain detailed records of specimen collection and processing activities
- Assist in laboratory management tasks such as inventory control, equipment maintenance, and adherence to CLIA regulations
- Support research laboratory activities when required, including sample preparation and data collection for ongoing studies
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment following hospital and clinical confidentiality policies
Experience/Education/Certifications
- HS Diploma or GED, minimum
- Prior experience in a medical or research laboratory setting is highly preferred
- Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques and specimen processing
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology as applicable
- Demonstrated ability to perform collections accurately and efficiently in pediatric or adult patients
- Experience working & adhering to CLIA regulations
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with diverse patient populations while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
- Understanding of laboratory procedures related to DNA, drug testing, or other diagnostic or infectious disease care including specialized test are a plus
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is preferred such as CPR or administration of Narcan
- On occasion, there will be mobile testing required locally, must have reliable transportation 13 hours per week.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
