We're looking for an experienced, certified HR professional to own our people function end-to-end. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role: you'll run payroll, keep us compliant across multiple states and countries, manage benefits and onboarding, and be the go-to person for everything HR. If you're comfortable wearing multiple hats at a small, fast-moving company and know payroll inside and out, we'd love to talk.
What You'll Do
- Run multi-state U.S. payroll (currently CA, NY, and MI) accurately and on time, and coordinate payroll/contractor payments for team members in the Philippines and Vietnam
- Own payroll tax withholding, filings, and reconciliations; partner closely with our CPA and payroll platform
- Manage benefits administration and statutory compliance, including NY DBL/PFL, NY Secure Choice, workers' comp, and multi-state registrations
- Handle full-cycle onboarding and offboarding — offer letters, I-9/E-Verify, and separation processing in line with state wage-and-hour law (California in particular)
- Maintain HR policies, the employee handbook, and PTO/leave tracking
- Support recruiting and hiring efforts across the U.S. and Southeast Asia
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations and HR questions across time zones
- Keep us compliant with federal, multi-state, and international employment regulations
- Support ESOP administration and related recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate, confidential HR records and reporting
What You Bring
- 4+ years of progressive HR experience, including hands-on payroll administration
- An active HR certification is required — SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP or PHR / SPHR
- Multi-state U.S. payroll experience (California and New York strongly preferred)
- Experience supporting or coordinating remote/international teams or contractors (Southeast Asia a plus)
- Solid working knowledge of multi-state employment law, wage-and-hour rules, and statutory benefits
- Proficiency with payroll/HRIS platforms (ADP, Gusto, or similar)
- Strong organization, discretion, and the ability to work independently across time zones
Nice to Have
- A payroll certification (CPP or FPC from the American Payroll Association)
- Experience at a small business or startup, comfortable building process from scratch
- Familiarity with ESOP administration
- Experience with global contractor or EOR platforms (Deel, Remote, etc.)
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
Benefits:
