General Statement of Duties
Will perform a variety of skilled duties in connection with the operation and maintenance of power plant systems, boiler and pipe repairs.
General Expectations
- Will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices.
- Will carry out assignments in training for and/or performing fire response and first aid.
- Will, during the normal performance of his duties, watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury.
- Will keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Will report ad directed to any facility for any shift where needed.
- Will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment.
- Will compile information and generate reports, forms, and documents as required.
Specific Expectations
- Make position or rolling welds on pipe and fittings of all sizes.
- Measure and fabricate all types of piping connections, using fittings as required.
- Perform welding for tie-ins.
- Make cuts into pipelines when directed and safe to do so.
- Install valves in piping.
- Perform all welding, remove cutting and fabricating required for maintenance and construction of piping and vessels.
- Be responsible for welding machine and other assigned equipment and tools.
- Ensure the workmanship complies with the following codes: DOT, API, ASME, AWS, AND NBIC.
- Be able to perform all aspects of hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
General Qualifications
- Must be willing to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions.
- Three to five yeas' experience in heavy industrial/power plant environment preferred.
- General working knowledge of power plant operations preferred.
- Proficient with most common types of welding equipment.
- Familiar with basic maintenance requirements for welding equipment with ability to perform some routine maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work shift schedule.
- Understanding of OSHA safety rules in heavy industrial/power plant environment.
Specific Qualifications
- Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be certified under DOT, API, ASME, AWS, AND NBIC as applicable.
- Should be able to interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) with minimal assistance.
- Must have a working knowledge of pipe, fittings and valves related to construction and maintenance of power plant.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency in the operation and use of cutting equipment including oxy-acetylene, air carbon arc and mechanical equipment.
- Must have proficiency in the knowledge of construction, maintenance, safety practices and methods used in power plants.
- Must have the ability to perform simple arithmetic functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) encountered on the job.
- Must have proficiency in pipe and fitting fabrication including in the use of beveling machines, line up clamps and other related tools.
- Must have a working knowledge of and be proficient in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW.)
- Must have the ability to read and interpret maps, main reports, piping isometrics, measurements; sketch fabrication drawings; and fabricate piping spools based on the drawings.
- Must be familiar with the basic requirements, for welding on coded pressure vessels and tanks, such as preheat, interpass temperature, and post heat requirements, material traceability, testing requirements, recordkeeping, etc.
- Must be observant and have normal color vision acuity in addition to being able to detect abnormal operations through sight, sound, and smell.
- Must have thorough knowledge of Lock out/Tag out systems.
- Able lift 50 pounds and work at heights and in confined spaces
- Able to read, write and speak English proficiently
- 6G Certified

Pay: $23.11 - $38.00 per hour
