Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive classroom and online instruction on HVAC/R principles, including system design, installation, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
- Develop and update curriculum materials that incorporate current industry standards such as OSHA regulations, technical skills instruction, and course design best practices.
- Provide hands-on training using real-world equipment in areas like electrical systems, hydraulics, plumbing, welding, automotive service, and aircraft maintenance to ensure practical skill development.
- Incorporate educational technologies such as computers and Blackboard learning management systems to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Assess student progress through evaluations aligned with higher education teaching standards; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment by working effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of prior experience.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing OSHA safety protocols and industry best practices during all instructional activities.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure curriculum relevance to current manufacturing, construction, automotive repair, HVAC/R trends, and MRO needs.
- Participate in curriculum development initiatives to keep instructional content aligned with evolving industry requirements and technological advancements.
Experience
- Proven experience working with post-secondary students or adult learners in technical or vocational education settings.
- Extensive hands-on experience in HVAC/R systems installation, maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting within manufacturing or construction environments.
- Strong background in electrical systems, hydraulics, plumbing, welding, automotive diagnostics or service, aircraft maintenance, or related technical fields.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Blackboard or other online instruction platforms, and educational technologies for teaching purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to design courses that meet higher education standards while engaging diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations such as OSHA standards applicable to HVAC/R work environments.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and adapting teaching methods accordingly.
- Technical proficiency in computer applications relevant to instructional delivery and curriculum development.
