The STAR (Systematic Teaching of Academics & Regulation) program serves students with significant social-emotional disabilities that impact their ability to acquire and apply social and emotional skills that are required for students to successfully participate in the general education setting. Students may be included in their general education grade level specials, recess/ lunch, and other school wide special events. Students in this program participate in MCAS and are on a diploma track for high school. Responsibilities:

Collaborate and coordinate with parents, guardians and community providers

Develop, implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs

Develop, implement and monitor behavior intervention plans and incentive plans

Prepare and provide individualized specially designed instruction in core content and other educational areas
- Demonstrate knowledge of and implement a variety of instructional methodologies and practices (i.e. inclusive practices, applied be, incidental teaching, etc.)

Demonstrate knowledge of and implement a variety of assistive technology tools and augmentative and alternative communication devices

Facilitate IEP Team meetings and the Team meeting process

Collect and analyze data to report on student progress and inform instruction
