Position Summary
Play a key role in supporting local government and public service as the City Clerk for the City of Kirksville. This position is responsible for coordinating City Council operations, maintaining official records, administering municipal elections, and providing professional administrative support to City leadership while serving as an important resource for employees, elected officials, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate City Council meetings, including preparation of agendas, meeting packets, minutes, and official records
- Serve as Custodian of City records and oversee records management, retention, and electronic document systems
- Administer municipal election processes, including candidate filings, legal notices, ballot certifications, and election documentation
- Prepare and process ordinances, resolutions, contracts, easements, deeds, and other official documents
- Provide administrative support to the City Manager and City Council while handling confidential information
- Respond to citizen inquiries and provide information regarding City services, records, and Council actions
- Assist with public information initiatives, legal notices, and communication with the media and community
- Coordinate with City departments to ensure compliance with records management and legislative processes
- Maintain Forest Llewellyn Cemetery records, including recording burials, processing burial certifications, tracking plot ownership, and coordinating grave plot sales.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, records management, or a closely related field
- Four (4) or more years of administrative experience supporting senior management
- Valid Missouri driver's license
- Notary Public
- Strong organizational, communication, project management, and Microsoft Office skills
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered

- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced municipal environment
