Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive dance curricula tailored to various age groups and skill levels, incorporating techniques such as ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, or other styles.
- Lead engaging dance classes that motivate students, promote teamwork, and build confidence through movement.
- Create original choreography for performances, recitals, or special events that showcase students’ talents and artistic growth.
- Manage classroom environments effectively by implementing behavior management strategies and ensuring a safe, inclusive space for all participants.
- Collaborate with other instructors or arts professionals to integrate dance with other visual or performing arts disciplines.
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their technique and performance skills while encouraging continuous improvement.
- Organize rehearsals and assist in preparing students for performances or competitions, emphasizing discipline and dedication.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching dance across diverse age groups, including children, youth, and adults.
- Strong background in choreography with a portfolio of original work or notable performances.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to different learning styles.
- Experience working with children or in youth programs that involve classroom management and behavior guidance.
- Skills in teaching visual & performing arts along with experience in theater or musical performance are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with early childhood education principles, preschool activities, or special education settings is a plus.
- Ability to instruct other arts disciplines such as music (including instrumental performance), photography, sewing, culinary arts, or childcare is considered an asset.
