Second Grade Classroom Teacher
Position Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and student-centered Second Grade Teacher to join our elementary team. The ideal candidate is passionate about elementary education and understands the unique needs of a multi-age classroom environment. This teacher will create a structured, engaging, and academically rigorous classroom while fostering strong relationships and supporting students’ social-emotional growth.
The successful candidate will provide standards-aligned instruction in all core subject areas and differentiate learning to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of students in both grade levels. Instruction and assessment practices should align with Arizona State Standards and the Arizona Professional Teaching Standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to Arizona Academic Standards for second grade students
- Develop and implement weekly lesson plans and curriculum across core subject areas including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies
- Differentiate instruction to support varying academic levels, learning styles, and student needs within a combination classroom setting
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
- Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment that promotes student independence, responsibility, and collaboration
- Support students’ social-emotional development through relationship-based teaching and classroom community building
- Implement classroom management practices aligned with developmentally appropriate expectations and school-wide behavior systems
- Collaborate with administration, special education staff, interventionists, and colleagues to support student success
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and communication with families
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, school events, and parent conferences
- Uphold all school policies, Arizona Department of Education requirements, and professional ethical standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field required
- Valid Arizona Elementary Education K–8 Teaching Certificate required (Arizona Department of Education)
- Valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required (Arizona Department of Education)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona Academic Standards and elementary instructional best practices
- Experience teaching upper elementary grades preferred
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and manage multiple grade-level standards simultaneously
- Knowledge of assessment practices, intervention strategies, and student progress monitoring
- Experience integrating social-emotional learning into daily instruction preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching lower elementary grade levels
- Training in trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, and social-emotional learning
- Experience with data-driven instruction and intervention planning
- Science of Reading or structured literacy training preferred
Arizona Certification & Professional Requirements
Candidates should meet Arizona Department of Education certification requirements for Elementary Education K–8, including:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree
- Completion of an approved teacher preparation program or qualifying alternative pathway
- Passing applicable professional knowledge and subject knowledge requirements
- Compliance with Arizona fingerprint clearance requirements (Arizona Department of Education)

*Salary would start at $35,000 and with increase depending on experience*
Pay: $35,000.00 - $37,000.00 per year
