ABOUT COMSTOCK HOME RENOVATIONS
Comstock Home Renovations is a values-driven residential renovation company serving Hoboken and nearby Hudson County communities. We focus on quality, clear planning, professional communication, and a well-managed client experience. We are building a team that follows strong systems and takes pride in reliable execution.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Project Manager supports the day-to-day field and administrative work that keeps renovation projects moving. This person will initially work directly with ownership in the field and will later support the Project Manager as CHR expands the team. The APM is expected to be immediately useful through site documentation, coordination, follow-up, and issue tracking while learning CHR’s project-management standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction, renovation, logistics, or project-coordination experience who wants increased responsibility and a clear path toward managing projects independently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Support & Quality Documentation
- Visit active job sites, complete assigned walk-throughs, and provide ownership or the PM with accurate field updates.
- Take organized before, progress, and closeout photos and videos; capture precise measurements and quantity information.
- Compare visible work against plans, selections, and checklists; document concerns promptly rather than allowing them to remain hidden.
- Assist with site protection, readiness checks, access coordination, and inspection preparation.
Scheduling, Logistics & Trade Coordination
- Confirm subcontractor arrival dates, delivery windows, building access, parking or loading needs, and site readiness.
- Coordinate material pickups, deliveries, returns, and follow-up with vendors as assigned.
- Track open dependencies and communicate schedule risks to ownership or the PM before they create field delays.
- Support weekly field meetings and follow up on assigned commitments with subcontractors, vendors, and team members.
Project Administration & Closeout
- Maintain daily logs, project notes, photos, punch lists, and task status in CHR’s project-management systems.
- Assist with permit applications, inspection records, selections, change-order documentation, and warranty tracking.
- Prepare draft client-update information for review and communicate routine logistics professionally when authorized.
- Support punch-list completion and verify that assigned closeout items are finished and documented.
Role Boundaries & Development
- Resolve routine coordination issues within assigned authority and escalate cost, quality, safety, schedule, or client concerns promptly.
- Do not commit CHR to scope, price, schedule changes, subcontractor awards, or payment approvals without authorization.
- Learn CHR’s scheduling, documentation, client communication, and quality-control standards with the goal of taking on increased project ownership over time.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Ownership or the PM receives clear facts, photos, decisions needed, and next steps.
- Assigned projects have organized, searchable documentation.
- Trades, deliveries, and access are confirmed before scheduled work.
- Punchlist items have owners and dates and are verified after completion.
- The APM demonstrates stronger judgment and independent responsibility over time.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in residential construction, renovation, property management, facilities, logistics, project coordination, or a comparable hands-on environment is preferred.
- You are dependable, punctual, organized, and comfortable spending most of the workday in the field rather than at a desk.
- You notice details, document what you see, and follow through until assigned tasks are complete.
- You communicate respectfully with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and team members.
- You are comfortable using technology and learning new tools. Experience with Google Workspace, Notion, Houzz, scheduling tools, or AI tools is a plus.
- Bilingual English and Spanish capability is preferred.
- A valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing is required.
WHAT WE OFFER
This is a full-time opportunity to learn directly from ownership, gain broad exposure to residential renovation, and grow toward independent project responsibility. Compensation is $24.00–$28.00 per hour based on experience. CHR provides training on its systems, checklists, standards, and project workflows within a respectful, professional team environment and paid PTO.
