About the position
This is a locally engaged staff position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission.
This entry level position is designed to provide exposure and engagement in work across the Australian Mission and UN including the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council and the Security Council. Policy Support Officers represent the Australian Government in a formal capacity and in an international environment under the close supervision of Australian diplomatic personnel.
Policy Support Officers will be offered temporary employment for an initial six-month term. Additional employment periods may be offered after the initial term.

Work Authorisation Requirements
Applicants for this position must apply for a G-1 visa on the basis of an offer of employment if they do not already fall into one of the employment eligibility categories below:

G-1 visas are valid for 5 years and are renewable provided you are still gainfully employed in your position.
Please be advised that individuals must be 20 years of age at time of employment to be registered with the Office of Foreign Mission (OFM).
Additional Information
This position requires a probity check to be completed. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT probity check. Probity checks can take some time to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate check is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a probity check. The inability to obtain a probity check prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a probity check at any time will lead to termination of employment.
