Bring the Energy. Build the Connections. Make an Impact.
Are you the kind of person who can walk into a room full of middle schoolers and get them excited to participate?
Do you love creating fun experiences, building relationships, mentoring young people, and helping teens discover what they’re capable of? We want to meet you.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley is looking for a high-energy, creative, positive Middle School Teen Coordinator to lead programming for youth in grades 6–8.
This isn't a job where you'll spend your whole day behind a desk. You'll be leading activities, building relationships with teens, coaching staff, partnering with schools, organizing Teen Nights, helping young people develop leadership skills, and creating the kind of Club environment that kids are excited to come back to every day.
If you're enthusiastic, dependable, creative, organized, and passionate about helping young people succeed, this could be an incredible opportunity for you.
What You'll Get to Do
Create an Amazing Teen Experience
You'll help make our middle school program a place where teens feel like they belong.
You'll:
- Lead fun, engaging before-school and after-school programming.
- Build strong, positive relationships with middle school youth.
- Create an environment filled with energy, encouragement, belonging, and youth voice.
- Lead sports, fitness, recreation, games, and Triple Play activities.
- Bring Arts, STEAM, technology, and creative activities to life.
- Support academic success through Power Hour and homework help.
- Mentor teens as they navigate school, friendships, leadership, and growing up.
- Help teens discover their strengths, interests, and future possibilities.
Build Tomorrow's Leaders
We want our teens to do more than participate — we want them to lead.
You'll coordinate programs such as:
- Torch Club
- SMART Moves
- SMART Girls
- Passport to Manhood
- Junior Youth of the Year
You'll help young people develop confidence, leadership skills, public speaking abilities, and a stronger belief in what they can accomplish.
Make the Club the Place Teens Want to Be
Middle schoolers have choices about where they spend their time. Your job is to help make the Club one of their favorite places.
You'll:
- Organize morning Triple Play at Lorna Bryne Middle School (before school)
- Plan monthly Teen Nights and special events.
- Create activities teens actually want to participate in.
- Recruit new middle school members through school outreach and relationship building.
- Listen to teen ideas and give young people a voice in their Club.
- Connect with parents, schools, counselors, and community partners.
- Help celebrate youth accomplishments and milestones.
Lead a Great Team
You'll also have an opportunity to grow as a leader.
You'll recruit, train, coach, and support teen program staff and volunteers while creating a team culture that is positive, professional, dependable, and focused on kids.
You'll help your team understand an important principle:
Every young person who walks through our doors should feel welcomed, valued, safe, and excited to be here.
Keep the Program Strong
Great programs need great organization behind the scenes, too.
You'll help:
- Track attendance, membership, and program participation.
- Coordinate grant-funded programs and required outcomes.
- Monitor program expenses and budgets.
- Maintain organized, safe, welcoming program spaces.
- Evaluate programs and look for ways to make them even better.
- Communicate with parents and guardians about expectations, successes, and concerns.
- Work closely with Club leadership to meet program goals.
Who We're Looking For
You might be a great fit if you:
- Genuinely enjoy working with middle school youth.
- Bring positive energy and aren't afraid to be silly, enthusiastic, or jump into an activity.
- Can command a room while still making young people feel heard and respected.
- Are creative and enjoy turning ideas into experiences.
- Believe every young person deserves an adult who sees their potential.
- Can balance having fun with maintaining clear expectations and boundaries.
- Are dependable, organized, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Enjoy leading and developing other staff.
- Communicate well with youth, parents, coworkers, schools, and community partners.
- Want a job where the work you do every day actually matters.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in youth development, teen programming, education, recreation, or a related field preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in education, youth development, social services, or a related field preferred — but we also value great experience, leadership ability, and a genuine talent for connecting with young people.
- Strong communication, organization, and group leadership skills.
- Ability to successfully complete required background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to meet Club driving requirements.
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
