- $123,588 – $142,558 annual base salary

Who Should Apply
Currently employed sworn peace officers in California—including municipal police, sheriff's offices, CHP, or state agencies—who have successfully completed a comparable probationary period.
Minimum Qualifications
- Age 21 or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 30 semester (45 quarter) college units by appointment
- OR substitution of POST-certified academy hours (40 hours = 1 unit; documentation required)
- Valid California driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- Vision uncorrected 20/100 each eye, correctable to 20/30
- Normal color vision and hearing
- No felony convictions
- Currently employed as a California peace officer with probation completed
Automatic Disqualifiers
- Felony convictions
- Domestic violence convictions
- Crimes involving moral turpitude
- Use within the past three years of hallucinogens, psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, cocaine, methamphetamine, or heroin
Selection Process
Qualified candidates will participate in:
- Written supplemental responses
- Oral board interview
- Background investigation
- Medical and psychological evaluations
Supplemental questions may cover problem-solving experience, community engagement strategies, and your reasons for seeking a lateral transfer.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
All individuals hired on or after October 18, 2021 must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including boosters, unless granted a medical or religious exemption.
