Major Functions:
Plan, organize, coordinate, and support the transition of students from suspension and alternate placements back to the classroom. The interventionist will work with the staff in alternate placements as well as the school to ensure students apply learned behavioral strategies and coping mechanisms to appropriately respond to stressors in the educational environment. The interventionist will work with teachers, administrators, and counselors to ensure that students make successful transitions back into the traditional school environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with students coming from suspension or from alternate placement and work closely with teachers and service providers to understand triggers to behaviors.

Work with the team when student is demonstrating progress to transition back to the home school.

Spend time with the student and staff during the transition to the home school or classroom to ensure the student is meeting the expectations in a traditional school setting and addressing challenges to avoid repeated behavior to avoid another alternate placement.

Conduct Behavior Consults

Conduct Environmental Analysis

Provide on-site assistance with crisis situations

Assist in implementing progress monitoring program (such as Review 360)

Conduct observations and data collections to provide strategies and interventions to teachers and staff

Consult with administrative staff regarding behavior programming, discipline, and behavior data in the school

Assisting students, teachers, or paraprofessionals in carrying out behavior modification/intervention plans

Provide consultation to parents and administration regarding student needs

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, utilizing tact and diplomacy and maintain effective working relationships.

Maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of District personnel and outside organizations

Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics

Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all DeSoto County Schools' records
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Education
-
Knowledge of behavior strategies
-
Certification set forth by Mississippi Department of Education
