The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, social, cultural, spiritual, and recreational needs of our residents. This position collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team members, residents, families, volunteers, and community organizations to create engaging and purposeful experiences that support resident independence and well-being.
Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive activities program for residents.
Assess individual and group resident interests, abilities, and needs to create meaningful programming.
Plan and coordinate daily, evening, weekend, and special event activities.
Organize community involvement opportunities, including church services, entertainment, school visits, volunteer programs, and special events.
Maintain accurate documentation regarding resident participation, engagement, and progress.
Attend care plan meetings and contribute to resident care planning and activity-related goals.
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and other departments to enhance resident quality of life.
Manage the activities department budget, including supplies, equipment, staffing, and program expenses.
Supervise and support Activity Assistants and volunteers.
Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and community partners.
Ensure compliance with resident rights, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable federal and state requirements.
Report concerns, complaints, and policy violations according to facility procedures.
Must meet state requirements as a qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional.
Eligible for certification or licensure through a recognized accrediting body, as required by state regulations.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in recreational, social, or activities programming within a healthcare setting.
Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to plan engaging programs for diverse resident populations.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community organizations.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of resident rights, activity programming standards, and documentation requirements.
