Driver
Position Overview
NewBridge is a non-profit organization that helps provide older adults a bridge to successful aging. Our agency provides a wide variety of services and programs primarily for low-income individuals, aged 60 and older. We are seeking a driver who is passionate about helping older adults thrive and has experience and relatability in racially diverse settings.
Primary Duties:
● Safely operate a 12-passenger accessible mini-bus equipped with a wheelchair lift to transport older adults to and from our program sites.
● Plan and coordinate daily pick-up and drop-off routes and schedules for efficient, on-time service.
● Operate the wheelchair lift and safely secure wheelchairs and mobility devices using proper securement/tie-down systems.
● Assist passengers with disabilities and mobility needs in boarding and exiting the bus safely, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
● Maintain a clean, well-maintained vehicle; conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain inspection and mileage logs, reporting any issues promptly.
● Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of passengers and other road users.
● Provide excellent customer service, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for older adults participating in our program.
Education and Experience:
● Experience driving larger vehicles, such as mini-buses or vans, preferred.
Requirements:
● Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
● Must be insurable under NewBridge’s automobile insurance policy
● Experience operating a wheelchair lift and securing mobility devices preferred; training provided.
● Ability to interact effectively and empathetically with older adults.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Flexibility in scheduling, with availability to work mornings, afternoons, and evenings as needed.
● Criminal/Caregiver Screening.
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to assist passengers with boarding and exiting, operate the wheelchair lift, and secure mobility devices and equipment as needed.
Work Schedule:
● 15–20 hours per week.
● Work hours vary weekly on Mondays–Fridays, 8 am–4 pm.
● An Occasional Weekend day may be requested, no holiday or on-call
Salary & Benefits:
$20.00 per hour
