Potential equity-need some Steakhouse experience!
This is an amazing opportunity to join a group with a fantastic culture! The concept has earned four James Beard Foundation nominations and operates with a short, transparent supply chain that is rare in the market.
It is built around sustainable, traceable sourcing rather than commodity supply chains, and the General Manager leads the restaurant that brings that story to life for guests.
We are seeking a senior operator to take full ownership of this high volume and established brand. This is a hands-on leadership role with real authority: you will own the P&L, build and hold the team accountable, and set the hospitality standard at one of Detroit's most recognized restaurants. Reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, you will translate vision into consistent day-to-day execution.
How You'll Make an Impact
You will own the restaurant's financial, operational, and cultural performance. You will set clear standards, hold the leadership team accountable, and make the final call on guest-facing operations - from reservation availability and service windows to event execution.
What You'll Do
Financial Ownership
Own the full P&L, including prime cost, labor as a percentage of sales, and margin targets.
Set and manage budgets across front of house, back of house, and events; identify and address cost or revenue issues before they compound.
Report financial and operational performance to the CEO on a regular cadence.
Leadership & Accountability
Directly manage and hold accountable the Assistant General Manager, Executive Chef, and Events Manager.
Lead quarterly performance reviews for the leadership team, with clear expectations and documented follow-through on underperformance.
Own and maintain the restaurant's accountability structure as the team evolves.
Approve changes to reservation availability, service windows, and banquet event orders before execution.
Guest Experience & Brand
Set and uphold the hospitality standard across every guest touchpoint, including service, events, and community presence.
Make final decisions on programming, activations, and brand-facing initiatives in coordination with the CEO.
Team Development
Build a strong leadership bench and actively develop the Assistant General Manager toward greater responsibility.
Set hiring standards and make final hiring decisions for all front-of-house and leadership roles.
Create a culture of ownership, feedback, and accountability aligned with the company's core values.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with the CEO on strategic decisions, including marketing investments, capital projects, and expansion planning.
What You'll Bring
7+ years of progressive restaurant leadership experience, including at least 2-3 years at the General Manager level or above in a high-volume, high-standards environment.
A demonstrated track record of owning a P&L - not simply executing against someone else's numbers.
The judgment and confidence to hold people accountable, navigate difficult conversations, and make personnel decisions.
A genuine ability to build culture and inspire a team around shared values, beyond strong HR administration.
A real passion for sourcing, sustainability, and the story behind the food.
Strong systems fluency, including POS and reservation platforms, budgeting tools, and the ability to build or refine standard operating procedures.
Executive presence and the ability to represent the brand externally with the same confidence you bring to running service.
This is an opportunity to lead a nationally recognized restaurant with a distinctive operating model and a mission rooted in sustainable, traceable food. You will have direct access to the Founder & CEO, meaningful decision-making authority!
