Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Homemaker and Companion to provide essential support and care to individuals in their homes or community settings. This role involves creating a warm, safe, and engaging environment while assisting with daily activities, personal care, and social interaction. The ideal candidate will be energetic, patient, and attentive to the unique needs of each person they serve, fostering independence and enhancing quality of life through personalized care.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper food safety and hygiene standards.
- Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a clean and comfortable environment.
- Monitor clients’ health by observing vital signs, noting changes in condition, and reporting findings in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care plans.
- Provide companionship by engaging in conversations, recreational activities, and social outings to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Support medication administration under supervision or as directed within scope of practice; assist with medication reminders if applicable.
- Follow established care plans, document observations accurately, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure consistent quality care.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in patient observation, patient monitoring, HIPAA compliance, and safety procedures is a plus.
- Experience with patient care procedures such as vital signs measurement, medication administration, use of Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> equipment is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform physical tasks involved in caregiving roles.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working compassionately with seniors or individuals with disabilities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Pay: $12.50 - $13.00 per hour
