Join us as a Summer Art Teacher and ignite the creative spirits of young learners through engaging visual arts! This part-time summer position offers a vibrant environment where passionate educators inspire children to explore their artistic talents, develop new skills, and express themselves confidently. As a key part of our youth programs, you’ll design dynamic lesson plans, foster a positive classroom atmosphere, and guide students through exciting projects that cultivate their creativity and confidence. Responsibilities
- Encourage a fun focused learning environment where students feel excited to participate and expand their art abilities
- Lead a class of up to 20 students safely and effectively, maintain the attention and interest of students, and meet course objectives. Ability to oversee and delegate classroom responsibilities to a summer counselor (high school student)
- Plan ahead the necessary materials and set up for a class
- Develop age appropriate, engaging lesson plans and projects (input and past examples from the team are available for reference)
- Keep track of student projects and needs; class schedules; projects; lesson plans. Plan, organize, and prep materials and space before each class. Keep the Studio space clean and organized after each class session.
- Manage classroom activities to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children of various skill levels.
- Lead interactive lessons and arts-based activities.
- Foster positive behavior management strategies to promote respect, collaboration, and enthusiasm among students.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs
- Support students’ childhood development by encouraging self-expression and building confidence through artistic exploration.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or youth program settings is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching visual arts.
- Experience with media and materials needed for the particular class or workshop. See each class description for specific media knowledge required.
- Strong background in curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to early childhood education.
- Proven classroom management skills with the ability to motivate students and maintain a positive learning environment.
