Center Point Heights is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as Director of Nursing (DON) for a 38 unit assisted living. This is a unique opportunity to work in a senior living community that is passionate about being part of the greater community while maintaining a close-knit team and home like environment.
The Director of Nursing provides clinical oversight across the community, ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care while supporting, developing, and guiding nursing staff. This position partners closely with the community director and is supported by a robust regional clinical and operational team that provides training, systems, policies, and ongoing support.
This nurse will complete routine nursing assessments, orders and documentation as well as support community staff by providing education and follow-up. This is a key leadership position that makes a significant difference in the quality of life of tenants every day. Leadership experience is welcome but not required. The community and regional team boasts experienced administrative and clinical leaders to provide support and mentorship to the nurse in this position as needed or requested. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow established standards of nursing practice and implement program policies and procedures.
- Communicate with residents, families and health care professionals.
- Promote the program to maintain census.
- Provide training/delegation and ongoing monitoring to universal workers/personal care attendants for health care professional directed care and/or medication administration.
- Be available on call in a rotation for staffing and nursing questions or concerns
- Supervise and evaluate all universal workers/personal care attendants; initiate and corrective action as necessary.
- Complete resident assessments and service plans as required by regulation.
- Identify tenant problems and emergency situations; respond as situation dictates.
- Identifies safety hazards and takes appropriate actions to correct them.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring of universal workers/personal care attendants.
- Supervise and assist with evaluation process of universal workers/personal care attendants.
- Ensure program-administered medications are being completed as required by regulations and appropriate delegation is present.
- Participates in an on call rotation to provide consultation to universal workers/personal care attendants in emergency situations.
- Assist with organizing, planning and leading staff meetings.
- Comply with all regulations as they apply to the assisted living.
- Other duties as assigned by the director.

- Proficient technology skills including Microsoft360, scheduling and payroll software and EHR software (PointClickCare). Training available for position specific systems.
Supervisory Responsibility: Assists in the management of several full time and part time employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Education and/or Training:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with a current license in the State of Iowa or compact license.
- Passion for working with seniors
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in assisted living or long term care setting preferred, not required
- Management experience and geriatric care experience preferred, not required
