Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver and take on the exciting challenge of delivering freight across long distances with energy and professionalism. As an OTR Driver, you will be the face of our company on the road, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining excellent customer service. Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and dump trucks across long-distance routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques and equipment like forklifts when necessary.
- Follow all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance during transit.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes and adapt to changing traffic conditions for timely deliveries.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, especially when handling freight like dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues encountered on the route.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and logistics cargo handling.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and various types of trailers including refrigerated units, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for dangerous goods.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely when loading or unloading freight using equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with tractor-trailer operations preferred.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time adjustments during trips.
- Physical stamina for long hours on the road and manual handling of freight; ability to work independently while maintaining safety standards.
