At WCAY, our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play an essential role in helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live safe, meaningful, and independent lives. DSPs provide hands-on support in our residential homes while promoting each individual’s dignity, choice, independence, and personal goals.
This position is more than providing daily care—it is about building relationships, creating a supportive home environment, and helping the individuals we serve participate fully in their homes and communities. DSPs work closely with their team, House Manager, and other members of the individual’s support network to provide consistent, person-centered care.
We are looking for dependable, compassionate, and responsible individuals who understand that the quality of their work directly impacts the quality of someone else’s life.
What You’ll Do:

Follow Individual Service Plans (ISP) with care and attention to detail.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for consumers.
-
Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs (meal prep may be required but is rare).

Administer medications (pills or liquids only, no syringes/injections) and maintain accurate documentation.

Monitor and report health concerns, incidents, or behavioral changes to leadership.

Accompany consumers to medical appointments, including but not limited to physical therapy, specialist visits, and routine check-ups as needed.

Engage consumers in fun, structured activities to promote social skills and independence, including outings to community events and day programs.

Assist consumers with laundry and household tasks, teaching them essential life skills to promote independence.

Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards at all times.

Selected team members may be required to perform other reasonable tasks and responsibilities as business needs necessitate.
Available Shifts:
-
1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
What You Need to Succeed:
-
Must have valid, unexpired authorization to work in the United States.
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
CPR/First Aid Certification (desired but not required; must be obtained within three months of hire and renewed bi-annually).

Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training (desired but not required; must be obtained within three months of hire).

DSP1 & DSP2 state-mandated certifications (or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe).

Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings, including Live Scan fingerprinting, TB health screening, and employment verification. (Drug testing is not required.)

Basic computer literacy (electronic health record systems are not used; staff maintain physical consumer binders).

Strong adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and ethical standards.
