Amore Learning is seeking skilled, engaging educators to provide individualized academic tutoring for students in PreK through 8th grade.
We are especially interested in tutors with experience in early literacy, foundational math, executive functioning, and upper elementary writing and math — though strong candidates in other subject areas are encouraged to apply.
This role is ideal for educators seeking flexible, meaningful work while maintaining high instructional standards.
Location
- Amore Learning Office: 4900 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC
- Students’ homes (primarily NW DC and nearby neighborhoods)
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized instruction aligned to student needs
- Strengthen core academic skills (literacy, math, writing, or other subject specialties)
- Create structured, engaging lesson plans
- Monitor progress and communicate clearly with families
- Foster student confidence, independence, and strong study habits
Qualifications
- Teaching certification required (current or former)
- Experience working with children in PreK–8th grade
- Strong content knowledge in at least one academic area
- Ability to differentiate instruction for varying learning styles
- Professional, reliable, and organized
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred (but not required):
- Training in Science of Reading or structured literacy
- Experience with math intervention or number sense instruction
- Background in executive functioning or writing support
Compensation
$60–$90/hour, based on education, certifications, subject expertise, and experience.
