Job Summary
Part Time/Flex position for two galleries in downtown Bend, OR. Schedule is Sundays 11am-4pm; Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am-6pm, and every First Friday Opening, 4:30-8:30pm. MUST also be able to cover shifts Wednesday-Saturday as needed. Compensation is $23/hour plus commission.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Gallery Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be the welcoming face of our gallery, engaging visitors with enthusiasm and professionalism while ensuring a seamless experience. Your creative eye and technical skills will support the presentation of the gallery's artwork, contributing to an inspiring environment that celebrates our artists and their work. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with diverse range of art , collaborate with talented professionals, and develop your expertise in gallery operations and sales support.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors, providing information about current exhibitions, artists, artwork and upcoming events to foster an engaging visitor experience
- Work with visitors to ascertain their needs, answer questions, provide additional information or artwork images as needed
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across two galleries and with external partners
- Excellent communication with represented artists in regard to sales, inventory or commissioned artwork
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills are essential
- Knowledge of art-handling techniques to ensure artworks are protected through proper handling procedures. Must be able to lift and move 50#
- Knowledge of proper artwork packing procedures to ensure safe and secure shipping/transport
- Strong computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office Suite and gallery-specific database management software
- Knowledge of point-of-sale systems and accuracy in completing sales paperwork
- Possibility of installing/hanging artwork in client's homes
- Maintain gallery cleanliness and organization - includes dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming as well as spackling and painting when necessary
