The CNC Router Operator is responsible for safely operating the Onsrud CNC router to cut production materials to specification, support downstream departments, and maintain quality, efficiency, and a clean and organized work area.

Operate the Onsrud CNC router to cut production materials per work orders, cut lists, and shop priorities.

Verify correct material type, thickness, and orientation before cutting (foam, fiberglass, Aqua Steel, or other approved materials).

Load programs, confirm revision levels, and follow standard setup procedures (tooling, vacuum/fixturing, offsets as required).

Perform first-piece and in-process quality checks (dimensions, edge quality, surface condition) and document results as required.

Label, stage, and deliver cut parts/kits to the correct department/location; coordinate priorities with Lamination and Production.

Monitor machine performance during runs and respond to alarms/issues; perform basic troubleshooting within scope and escalate when needed.

Perform preventive maintenance and daily care: clean machine/table, verify vacuum performance, check tooling condition, maintain dust collection, and complete checklists as assigned.

Maintain accurate production records (work orders, scrap tracking, rework notes, downtime reasons if required).

Follow all company safety rules and procedures, including PPE requirements, fiberglass handling rules, and LOTO expectations.

Maintain 5S standards and participate in continuous improvement (scrap reduction, cycle-time improvement, and better material flow).

High school diploma or equivalent preferred (or equivalent work experience)

Experience operating CNC routers (Onsrud experience preferred; comparable CNC router experience acceptable).

Ability to safely handle materials and parts; comfortable working around fiberglass, dust collection, and adhesives/resins as applicable.

Ability to read work orders, cut lists, and basic measurements (tape measure; calipers/gauges as required).

Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance/checklists.

Forklift certified (or ability to become certified).

Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to coordinate priorities with production departments.

Ability to adapt to production changes and maintain a steady, safe pace.

Basic program troubleshooting knowledge (tool paths, feeds/speeds concepts, tool wear recognition).

Experience with vacuum tables, fixturing, tool changes, and scrap tracking.

MS Office or basic computer skills for logs, checklists, and documentation.

Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and fiberglass materials.

Standing/walking for extended periods; bending, reaching, and lifting as needed.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (adjust as required by facility standard).

Must be able to work overtime and Saturdays as needed.
