Sweet Memories Gift Shop is more than a retail store—it is part of a compassionate support system for families grieving the loss of a beloved pet. We are seeking a caring, personable, and empathetic Gift Shop Attendant who can warmly welcome visitors, assist families selecting memorial items, and provide exceptional customer service during a sensitive time in their lives.
The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely loves people and animals, communicates with kindness and compassion, and can help create a peaceful, supportive environment for families as they pick up their pet's cremated remains and memorial keepsakes.
Responsibilities
- Greet families and visitors with warmth, empathy, and professionalism.
- Assist clients in selecting memorial products, gifts, keepsakes, and healing-focused items that honor the bond they shared with their pet.
- Provide compassionate support to families picking up their pet's cremated remains, ensuring they feel welcomed, cared for, and respected.
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately, handling cash and credit card transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting retail environment that reflects the mission and values of Sweet Dreams Memorial Gardens and Sweet Memories Gift Shop.
- Assist with inventory management, stock replenishment, pricing, and merchandise displays.
- Answer questions about products, memorial garden offerings, upcoming events, and available resources for grieving pet families.
- Professionally and compassionately address customer concerns or special requests.
- Support seasonal promotions, fundraising events, memorial programs, and community activities.
- Help create a peaceful and uplifting atmosphere where visitors feel comfortable reflecting, remembering, and healing.
Qualifications
- Previous retail, customer service, hospitality, veterinary, funeral service, or grief-support experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect genuinely with people from all walks of life.
- Compassionate, patient, and emotionally mature when interacting with grieving families.
- Comfortable discussing memorial products and end-of-life services with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale system experience preferred.
- Passion for helping people and a love for animals are highly valued.
