Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades six through eight. Duties
- Design and deliver dynamic lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in social sciences, including history, geography, civics, and economics.
- Incorporate innovative learning technology and creative writing techniques to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide timely feedback.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that promotes respect and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and school initiatives.
- Mentor students academically and socially, supporting their personal growth and development.
- Facilitate extracurricular activities such as debate clubs or social studies competitions; support sports coaching as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress; communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
- Incorporate childhood development principles to tailor instruction for diverse learning needs, including special education considerations.
- Stay current with educational best practices by participating in professional development opportunities related to teaching physical education, library services, or other relevant areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Valid teaching certification for middle school education; experience with private school settings is advantageous.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills with experience working with children across varied developmental stages.
- Strong knowledge of social science disciplines such as history, geography, civics, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and related math concepts.
- Excellent communication skills for public speaking, instructional delivery, and parent engagement.
- Proficiency in learning technology tools and digital resources for lesson planning and student assessment.
- Experience developing curricula using Chicago Manual of Style standards for writing assignments or proofreading tasks.
- Ability to mentor students academically and behaviorally while fostering a supportive classroom environment.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and effective tutoring strategies to prepare students for assessments.
- Familiarity with Montessori or other specialized educational approaches is a plus; experience in education administration or literacy education is beneficial. Pay: $42,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
